O'Ree was the first black man ever to skate for a team in the NHL he played for the Boston Bruins between 1958 and 1961. Cited as the Jackie Robinson of Hockey.

Although he experienced racism from fans, opponents and even hockey officals he focused on just being good at hockey. O'Ree never received much media coverage, he was more concerned with perfecting his game than the colour of his skin. "The NHL was the league and I knew it would only pick the best players. That's what I tried to be."

Throughout his career O'Ree has been a mentor an inspiration to people young and old. And he continues to be. He's received a lot of awards and accolades, most notable is the Order of Canada the highest civilian award for a Canadian.

Tuesdays Man: Will Demps

So I'm not even going to pretend I know anything bout football or care about it for that matter. But I do care about Will Demps and his gorgeous self. The man is beautiful. He also was Letoya Luckett's love interest in the video for her single 'Torn'. I say excellent choice.

Black History Month

February 1st 2010 marks another Black History Month. To me this is more than a month to rattle of "did you know trivia" rather a month to reflect and have meaningful discussions about what black people, people of African descent around the world have contributed to this world and continue to contribute to this society. The most prominent examples of black achievement are often entertainers and sports athletes.

Granted they have greatly contributed to the cultural landscape, especially in mainstream pop culture. But, I'd like for black achievement to reflect more than entertainment and a more global culture. This series of my Black History Month posts are going to feature mostly Canadians, Africans and other black individuals form around the world.

What I've noticed is that black history is mostly focuses on American icons. Undoubtedly, because it was started in America. But black history should be something that has to be seen as something that began more than 500 years ago. I'd like to shed light on others who have been brave to take a stand and pave the way for us all.

Lip Colour: Maybeline, Avon & Estee Lauder

Maybelline's Color Sensational Lipcolor in "Copper Charm" 305 is awesome. It doesn't have that putrid smell that most lipsticks have. The colour is beautiful it's a great copper, more like copper honey colour. What is great about this is that is does not have that brassy look that most copper lipsticks have especially on darker skin tones. Maybelline generally has great colours for a wide range of skin tones.

Avon's "Cherry Jubilee" is possibly the best red that I have tried on. I have tried many shades of red and been unhappy with them all. It's deep red at first glance it a appears almost burgundy however depending on you skin tone it'll appear slightly different. I have deep chocolate skin so it was vibrant on me. The only downfall to this is that it bleeds a lot and transfers very easily. So be careful with this one. Besides that it's a gorgeous colour.

Estee Lauder's Intense Lip Creme in "Electric" is a creamy rich colour. Goes on smooth. It's a reddish colour with tiny gold flects. Not a colour you'd wear on a daily basis. It also doesn't have that unpleasant smell most lipsticks have. There isn't a lot of transfer with this one.The only downfall of this product is the price. The quality is good but it's unreasonable to pay a lot for lipstick especially if you are not going to wear it on a daily basis. But, over all it is a good product.

Monday Music: D'Angelo Voodoo 10 Year Anniversary

Today marks the 10 year anniversary of D'Angelo's critically acclaimed sophomore album, Voodoo. Voodoo debuted at number 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 charts, selling an impressive 320,000 copies in its first week. The album went platinum in the U.S, which also garnered him a Grammy Award for best R&B Album. This is probably one of my favourite albums to date. It is still in heavy rotation, it's masterpiece. Congrats to D'Angelo and Amir 'Quest' Thompson (The Roots) for creating a timeless classic.

Monday Music: Jully Black

Canadian R&B singer Jully Black is probably the best singers you've never heard of. To say Jully's voice is beautiful is an understatement. I've had the privilege of seeing her live in concert and she doesn't disappoint. The clarity and power of her voice is phenomenal. It wasn't until she did a remake of Etta James' Seven Day Fool that she got onto mainstream Canadian radio. The single appeared on her sophomore album Revival. She's back with her third studio album entitled The Black Book.

Model Behaviour

More often than not you hear negative headlines about Naomi Camp bell, whether it be substance abuse, legal troubles from in air confrontation with air hostesses or the infamous phone throwing incident she's well known for her bad behaviour. Granted, she has owned up to her role in most of the situations she that finds herself in. But, rarely do you ever see headlines about the charity work she has been involved with through out her career.

Kate Moss is caught on camera snortings cocaine and is rewarded with several magazine more covers. Even Hollywood stars are able to redeem themselves from their former bad boy images, Johnny Depp used to trash hotel rooms and now he's a respected actor and father. All wild partying and hotel trashing days are forgotten. But, for Naomi the bad reputation seems to linger like cheap Calgon Mist. Like any human being she is not perfect. But, the media has a way of creating monsters or darlings, depending on how well a celebrity's handlers are at doing their jobs. These days mediocre talent is reward with a ton of exposure based on how well their publicist, stylist and marketing team work in tandem. All come together beautifully to create an over exposed media darling.

Some celebs are not that lucky some are there to be torn asunder whether or not they speak up. The video bellow shows another side of Naomi, a side that's so unlike the monster you imagine as you read the tabloid headlines that have been written about her through her career. I don't condone any type belligerent behaviour but I don't think that if she was such a terror she would have a career period.

Interview with Carlos Watson

It's quite interesting that Naomi doesn't consider herself skinny. She's a "regular size" lol. That being said the fashion industry needs to change
